i took off back cover of dryer , turn on high switch and watched , red heat came on for about 2-3 minutes and shut off , then came back on in about 3-4 mins and stay on for about the same time and went off

Hi Christen
Sounds like restricted air flow is allowing heat to build up in your machine. You need to fix this ASAP.
You need to take the blower cover off and check the blower to see if it is turning correctly. If so, thorough clean out the blower and the entire vent area inside of the machine. You should get a good, strong air flow.
