Got this in trade for grinding something. Leaks at the barrel or tub seal.
Can't figure out how to remove agitator. Can't find nut. Removed fabric softener dispenser but the mechanism for the agitator is next to come out (I think) to get to the nut.
But can I change the seal from the top, or what, I'm a machinist but not good at some sheet metal puzzles.
Please help me I'm running out of clean clothes.

Hi Special Skill

Here is a site that will explain it to you.

http://www.applianceaid.com/genew2.html

The agitator just lifts off, except it may be difficult. Some folks advise putting a thin rope under the agitator and up over a board for leverage.

What the site does not tell you is that getting that hub nut off can be a real chore, look at some of the other postings on this Forum about the seal on a GE.

If you can get the agitator off and the hub nut off the rest is pretty easy.

Good luck
