Need to know what relay switch to buy for this model of KitchenAid Fridge... Both sides stopped cooling, lights are on, everything else seems to be working. This happened about 6 months ago, same thing... so I want to try and fix myself.

Are you talking about the start relay on the side of the compressor?

To be honest, I'm not sure. The last time this happened (6 months ago) the tech that came out said it was the relay switch, it was a 10 minute "swap it out" with a new switch type of fix - so hopefully that helps clarify a little? Seems there is more than one switch...

Was thanked: 2 time(s) in 2 post(s)
Pull the back off and check the compressor, if warm and the condenser coils cool, pry off the compressor side cover and replace the black plastic ptc device AP3601983 Take a picture of which wires whent where to ensure no problem later.

If you need to replace the start relay every 6 months you may have other problems going on there too.

Thanks for the advice - I am at work and will head home shortly to check the compressor/condenser/switch. I kind of suspect that something else is going on too... seems highly unusual that the same thing happens so close together (if it is actually the same thing)... I have a tech coming on Monday so worse case scenario I get the part for him to put in and he diagnoses the entire issue!

Appreciate the help.
