Hi there, after pricing a compressor for this unit I have decided that it is definitely a better idea to replace the entire fridge rather than replacing the compressor. However, I am concerned that it might just be a relay. Can someone please tell me how I can tell if it is indeed the compressor or if it could possibly just be a $40 relay? I understand that I cannot replace the compressor myself, but a relay would not be a problem (I don't think.) Thank you again, the info. is very much appreciated. I used to work on laundry machines as well as dishwashers, so I'll be happy to try to pass along any help I can offer to the other forum folks asap.
Heres some symptoms: The compressor has been extremely loud coming on for years (knocking). It seemed as though the freezer went out before the fridge although it could be that since its much colder I just noticed it first. The light is on inside, so I know I have power. It's not running at all.
