 We have checked the seal around the freezer door and the door flap and spring to the ice shute area and they are functioning fine. We believe the problem to be the Breaker Strip for the top section of the freezer.(according to the applicance diagram) About half of the Breaker strip has pulled away about a quarter of an inch, you can feel a little bit of a gap on the side towards the back of the freezer, but the rest of the strip is still intact and snug.
If this is the problem, how do we fix this? I did call to find out info on this item and it is no longer available from GE according to the rep I spoke to ....hoping to order this part if needed thru this website. Is there a glue or something to reattached it or does it snap back in place?? :o
Again, we only get frost buildup starting in the area where ice gets chopped up and it eventually builds and the frost accumulates down the ice shute of the freezer door. I clean it out every couple of days. It builds up ice whether the ice maker is on or off. Thanks again for your help in this. We can't imagine we need a new fridge just for this frost problem. All other systems are running fine that we can tell. THANKS again.:)

Are you sure the ice cube door is completely closed?
If a part you are looking for has been discontinued by the manufacturer then there is a very small chance to find it anywhere.

When I looked up the part on the blown up diagram and identified the part...it said to call for assistance....the customer service rep said it was not available (not GE's rep, but applicane parts pro customer service rep).
Yes, the flap is closing tightly and the spring is working fine. Snug all the way around and we heard it snap shut numerous times. We do keep checking this over and over since learning about. Any reason why this little bit of the top (ceiling) breaker strip would let go?? That is the only thing we see 'wrong' and it is right above the ice shute area from the ice bin. Any other ideas? Or do we need a repair from a repair man? Thanks...by the why you helped up fixed our ice maker, defroster and more before!!!!:) :) :) :)

Thank you for good words. Quote:...the customer service rep said it was not available... It's based on the information provided by GE. Quote:...That is the only thing we see 'wrong' and it is right above the ice shute area from the ice bin... If it does not sealed properly then it explains frost in the freezer. Quote:...do we need a repair from a repair man?... At least you can get a professional diagnosis. Gene.
