Dryer runs wonderfully on the first round but then cuts off repeatedly until it quits. Coils and thermo on the back of the drum tested and running, and the only broken circuit I can find is in the moisture sensor built into the dust catcher. By the way, model is a Frigidaire [FGQ14420E] if you didn't catch that. This model (see above) has two bars attached to four connectors by two wires red and red/white. Only one bar (the bottom one) shows continuity to a ground. The other is dead. This does not seem to be a question of wiring--I have tried switching them around. Q:Since intermittance is accompanied by shutting on and off of the burner and occurs with each new batch of damp clothes, might I be correct in suggesting that this dead bar has more to do with the problem than the coils, and the thermaster? both of which have been replaced. If so, could you let me know whether the fault occurs in the control or in the dead bar? and what part I need to replace?
Thank you.

The burner cycles on and off normally, to maintain a consistent temperature range wile drying. Are your clothes getting dry? The way to test the moisture sensor is to check its continuity. As you cover it with a wet cloth, check its continuity with chassis ground. Unless they physically break, this type of moisture sensor rarely fails.

I understand the function of the moisture censor, but when the dryer turns off, it does not dry clothing. We hang it in the bathroom, put it in the sun if the temperature around here is 90- 104* My wife, however would like the dryer to do the drying. I think my question was whether one bar off line could account for this. This moisture sensor is made up of two elements. It would be hart to cover one but not the other with a wet cloth. If it rarely fails are you assuming that it doesn't fail? didn't fail on this machine? couldn't fail in a way that would make the dryer act this way and interfer with drying?

If you're getting heat, but not drying the clothes, check for a restriction or obstruction in the vent system, e.g. lint build-up, bire or animal nest, kinked vent hose, etc.

No soap. I don't see how the dryer could work terribly well in one part of an hour and be plugged up after----only to empty itself and become clean again to work correctly.
1. When it works, it works "perfectly". That is usually after a nap of several days When it works the clothes are dry, the exhaust is hot and plentiful. It is now-this instant running perfectly. When it stops, I am going to slam some towels from the washer into it-- about 1/2 washer full. If it runs well, I will wait until those towels dry and then try it again. If it doesn't start to shut off and turn on. I'll describe how it is workin.
2 Does this mean that you can't answer my question from before?
Thank you, Don
