While removing the drum to replace the heating coils the e ring was bent pretty badly. It turns out the e ring is no longer made by GE. Is this something I can just get at a hardware store?

I am replacing the heating coils and am wondering if I have the unit torn apart this far (drum out) are there other parts that should also be replaced like the insulators? The parts look OK but they've seen alot of heat over the past 27 years.

I replaced the drive belt last year so that is one item that is ok.

Thanks.

I am assuming you are talking about the clip that you have to remove from the drum shaft to remove the drum. If so you no longer need it as long as you replace the bearing (part number WE3X75), which you probably need to anyways. As far as the insulators go just inspect them to see if they are burnt or cracked if not no need to replace them. Clothes Dryer Repair Guide
