replaced the lid switch but still stops during the spin cycle. but will spin if the lid is opened and closed timer keeps running

it goes into spin but will suddenly stop

Check the lid switch to see that the wiring is tight, and check the connections at the timer.

If all checks out and you are sure the new lid switch is ok, try replacing the timer.
