Our Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator freezes food in the refrigerator compartment. Just about everything that is placed near the back on the shelves freezes. The electronic temperature control shows a temperature of 38 degrees with the freezer temperature showing 0 degrees which are the factory default settings. I tried to raise the temperature setting for the refrigerator compartment, but the electronic controls for adjusting the setting don't work; that is, they won't change the temperature setting. I can't change the temperature setting for the freezer either. I presume that this means that the control board is not functioning properly. Are there other likely causes for the refrigerator to be too cold that I should check before I replace the control board?

The primary problem with our refrigerator was that the temperature inside the refrigerator was too cold which was causing the food inside the refrigerator to freeze. The secondary problem was that the buttons on the electronic keypad inside the refrigerator wouldn't work so I couldn't adjust the temperature inside the refrigerator. That is, when I pushed the buttons on the keypad, nothing happened. I started out by replacing the display control board that the keypad connects to simply because I had a spare from a previous problem that I had had with the unit. Changing the control board made no difference, so I ordered a new keypad (Overlay). Replacing the keypad solved the problem. With the new keypad installed I was able to increase the temperature inside the refrigerator so that it no longer freezes food in there. I still have an issue due to the fact that the digital temperature display for the refrigerator is not accurate, but I can compensate for that. The digital display shows a reading of 40 degrees, but the actual temperature in the refrigerator as measured by a separate thermometer is 34 degrees rather than the 32 it was previously set at. I'll continue bumping the temperature up till the actual temperature reaches the recommended 38 degrees. I am assuming that the reading on the refrigerator's digital display is not that critical for the proper operation of the unit as long as the actual measured temperature inside the refrigerator is acceptable.
