Hi, I have a Whirlpool dishwasher mdl DU948PWKQ1 and the "Locked" light is stuck on. I have read posts on this and tried a lot. The 5 second push on "Air Dry" does nothing. Pushing other buttons gets Locked light to flash 3 times as indicated in the manual. I have removed power for extended periods with no change. I removed the Control Assembly, cleaned contacts and reseated all the cables including the ribbon cable. I couldn't figure out how to remove the console to check the membrane switches on the front panel. Reinstalled everything and all is still the same with the Locked light still on. Not sure what to try at this point or what I should order. Electronic control assembly AP3175633 or Console AP3126201 Is there some way to test the membrane switches? With the prices, I my buy a new dishwasher in lieu of the Console. Not even sure if I can remove it. If it is the Electronic control assembly I can get to it and the price would be okay for DIY. Comments or help? Thank you in advance for any help. Tom

No, I have not done that. How would I get it to run with the cable disconnected? Wouldn't all the buttons be inactive at the point?
Thanks for the help.

Okay, I can do that, but with that cable unplugged the keypad will not work. How do I start the dishwasher or make it operate at that point?

See if the locked light stays on with it disconnected.

Okay, I think I see where you are going now. With the ribbon cable disconnected, the Locked light goes out.
Thanks, Tom.

Then obviously you have a shorted keypad.
