The dryer keeps shutting off and the E1 error message appears. It seems to heat fine, but not sure why it is doing this.

What does the message refer to, and how do you fix the problem?

Hi Srtroy

I cannot get your model number to come up, but in general the error message you are getting is usually associated with a bad thermistor.

A thermistor is an electric device whose resistence changes as the termparature changes. In your dryer it is sited in the exhaust air vent and monitors the temperature of the exhaust air. This allows it to help control the thermostat so that your dryer runs at the correct temperature. When it goes bad you get the E1 error.

Here's what I would recommend. First take off the bottom panel and you should find some tech notes and trouble shooting info. Go through any troubleshooting routine and confirm the E1 error is associated with the thermistor. The tech notes will probably have a way to test the thermistor if you want to confirm a diagnosis.

If it is the thermistor, remove the vent cover and replace it. It comes off with two screws so it is a pretty easy job.

Good luck, let us know what you find out.
