The washer is about 10 years old a have never had a problem with it until now. The washer will go thru the wash cycle but stop and shut off at the 1st rinse cycle. I have to manually advance the dial and push the button for it to start. It does this thru every rinse cycle (3) and then also the last spin cycle. I have also noticed that at the 1st rinse cycle, there is no water going into the tub and rinsing out the softner tray. I had a service guy come out and he replace the board and that did not fix the problem ($300.00 later). He told me he wasn't sure what the problem was and needed to call the company.
