Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 7/2/2009(UTC) Posts: 1		while replacing the defrost heater I poked a hole in the silver coil part of the evaporator kit in the freezer compartment. I heard a hissing sound and before I could patch it it sounded like all the air came out. Was this freon? will it still freeze/cool the fridge? Thansk for any help.

Rank: Advanced Member Groups: Senior Expert Joined: 8/16/2007(UTC) Posts: 3,273		Being aluminum, you may need to replace the entire coil. Don't know if it can be effectively patched. Yes, that hissing sound you heard was the refrigerant gas.
