I discovered my freezer door ajar this morning (Kenmore upright model 253.24082100) with the temp alarm going off. I then shut the door and turned off the temp alarm and left for work, at 5am, it is now 6:15pm and my freezer is still not freezing. I came home turned the alarm back on and the alarm sounded. I checked inside and it appears as though the freezer may have frozen a little bit of condesation on the walls of the freezer. I can hear it running but the fan does not seem to be moving a lot of air inside the freezer. I also noticed the outside of the freezer is not warm to the touch like normal when the unit is running. Does anyone have any idea as to what my issue might be?

Thank you,
Dennis I

Model number didn’t seem to be right but assuming it is self-defrosting. Sometimes when you leave the door open frost will build up on the evaporator coils blocking airflow. To fix this, access the coils (by removing the cover off the back of the freezer) and remove the ice. If the door being open was the cause of the ice build up melting the ice should be all you need to do. Hope this helps!!
