the freezer is working but fridge is not. Already unplugged it for a day and wondering if it is a deforst timer because defrost thermostat is ok. Any suggestions on what i could do would be greatly appreciated.

look behind the back cover in the freezer to see the evaporator coil. It should be lightly frosted all over, not totally covered blocking the flow of air.

Check the conrol on the ref. side. I had one that did this, and it was the air damper control that lets cold air from the freezer into the refrig. side.
The llittle finger that pushes the door open and closed to keep refrig area temp under control had lost the gas in the conrol tube, and was not working at all.
Replaced it ($70) and all is well.
You can check the control by putting it into a cold salt water solution, or very cold water, and watch the finger to see if it moves. If not, put it into some warm water and see if it will move. If neither works, the control is bad, and you need to replace it. I took mine off for a while and adjusted another air inlet hole and it kept the ref. at about 40F.
Finally broke down and paid the money to do it correctly.
