can not get ge service in my area. so i have to do it all myself... and i'm a clutz.
i'm trying to replace the heating element in the dryer. i have an exploded drawing (available from numerous web sites) which shows a lot but not enough. my assumption is that i must go in thru the front by removing the front panel. i remove the 4 screws at the top... then what. i don't see anything holding the panel on, yet... it wont come off.
any help would be appreciated. i can read a manual if i had one, but i've found nothing online.
tia.

BOB If i can recall when you take the 4 screws off the front you can tilt the top section back, but before i would do this I would go to the back of the dryer and take the belt off the idler pulley, then with the top section tilted, look in at the front panel.there will be a screw in each corner remove them and disconnect the lid switch wires. Now you can move the front panel by lifting up,move this to the side.Remove the drum/and belt all at once,by lifting the drum a little and going straight out.Now your at the heater. there is only 4 screws in the heater canister remove the 4 screws and wires going to the thermostats and element .REPLACE with the new part....good luck.
