My expensive fridge is hot to the touch and plastic is browning. Service guy said "fan is broken", second guy says "2 control boards (#2307028 and #2259350) are broken, not the fan". Can I order and replace these 2 control boards myself without killing me or the fridge? Thanks and I am happy I found this forum so I can find a way NOT to let KitchenAid make money from this disgruntled consumer.

The condenser fan not running could cause this as could dirty condenser coils and evaporator coils iced up stopping the air flow. If the fan isn't running make sure it's not just a bad fan. Check the voltage at the fan.
diagrams 15 and 3 show your electronic controls. I wouldn't think you would need both and yes I think you can replace them.

how's this for throwing some confusion into the equation...the diagnosis was made a few days ago (busted control boards) so i turned the unit off for a few days. for grins, I turned it back on and notice that the fan now runs. Is there a way the control board can work intermittently...or start off fine...then quit? Thanks for your help
