on weekend refridge got harm , so i removed plate and defrosted by hand ( dryer ) have replaced heater element last year- got unit to run again work ok , found in am that fan motor will not stop running , need to know is this due to heater not defrosting , bad evap motor ( which sound like it is the power is going up and down ) or is it a defrost timer / control issue:confused:

The variable speed of the fan points to the motherboard. It is part 801 on diagram 10. Replacement parts for GE GSS20IEPHWW | AppliancePartsPros.comThe speed of the fan will affect the cooling of the fridge. You don't have a defrost timer. The motherboard does that job. If you have a defrost problem, the evaporator coils behind the back cover in the freezer will be cover in ice. Not just frost.
