Hot Point, Side x Side. w/Ice and water in the door.
serial #SA208216

Both the Refirdgerator and Freezer are cold on the bottom and warm on the top.

I have 2 problems with this unit.

1st - the solenoid for the ice/water dispenser is all rusted and needs to be replaced. (I have figured this problem out)

2nd - both the fridge and freezer are cold on the bottom and warm on the top.

When i investigated the unit i found the coils behind the freezer panel to be iced up. I checked and made sure the drain was not plugged. The unit sounds like it is running. i do not hear what I would call a circulating fan. I believe this to be part number AP3191003 or AP3875639. I am not sure if this unit has a thermister.

Am I on the right track? Do you have experience with this problem for this particlar unit. Please help.

thank you,

mmk

check , defrost heater, defrost thermostat for defrost failure.

If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the motherboard.

The evaporator fan could be stopped by ice but it should be running when the compressor is. The fan also won't run when the unit is in the defrost cycle. It's behind the cover with the evaporator coils.
