I have a Coldspot frostless refrigerator/freezer model 61720. My Mom bequeath it too me almost 10 years ago. Until just a couple months ago it worked great, but now I am getting frost build-up on the coils behind the freezer panel and the fridge runs continuously after a while. I have self defrosted it 3 times. I have cleaned the evaporator coils on the bottom. The compressor seems to be running okay as it still gets cold (> 40 degrees) in the fridge compartment and the freezer. The fan in the compressor area is running. I'm guessing my defrost system has failed in some way. Might I be on the right track and, if so, what can I do? Also, should there be insulation around the compressor? There is now so I'm guessing that is the way it is supposed to be. Thanks and smiles. Tim Davis :)

Post your CORRECT model number to see your parts and location. Model Number Locator If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.comSome models have an electronic defrost control instead of a timer. In that case If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.
