Is it Normal for water to discharge from the top vent? Water comes out and empties into the sink. Is this normal? I thought it was just a vent?

I assume you mean an air gap mounted on the counter top.
No it is not normal.
Remove the drain side from the air gap and check that it is not partially plugged. Often stuff will get caught on the fitting that fits into the hose at the house plumbing.
Also many air gaps come apart so you can clean them.
Go to the GE site and download an install instructions so you can check that it is properly installed.
If it is not available at GE just pull a Model Number off this site and go to Whirlpool or Maytag sites and get one. The install is pretty much the same for all units. |
