Simply put- water valve is not opening. I have verified water is at the inlet of the valve but nothing going through so either the valve is bad, or the control switch is not telling it to open. the lever (on/off switch) inside the ice maker clicks as expected when moved up or down. i verified nothing internal moves on its own (set a rag on the lever overnight- still there in the morning) so it either thinks it is full and not trying to make ice, or realizes the is no water/ice in the tray?

called parts support and they cannot find part numbers for the valve (came up with a solenoid with lever which was incorrect).

so 2 questions- would it most likely be the valve or the ice maker brains? (looks to be all mechanical- no digital display).
and- what would the part numbers be to order the correct part?

sn L90365207. about 15 years old, old style- 2 door, freezer on top.

Thank you for any help.

I just double checked model- inside on silver label says model 3638795711
no fading or scratches i can see that would hide another digit- number is very clear. on the back on a paper sticker is 8 795 711 WH

turns out i bought it in 1990 so I was off 6 years on the age- kenmore probably made so many they had to add another digit after mine ?

Thank you for you response-and i admit i have been known to be half blind at times.

Ok, that is the correct number.

Model number does not show up on the appliancepartspros site, but does on the sears site.

What is the temp of your freezer?
If the freezer is not 0-5 deg. F. the ice maker may not cycle correctly.
