Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 6/16/2010(UTC) Posts: 59		Hi, I am working on this GE refrigerator with bottom freezer with an electronic ice maker. When I manually advance the ice maker it did not fill with water the first time. The second time I advanced the ice maker it did fill with water but each time I depress the freezer door switch it calls for water for about a second to the point it overflows. I never came across this problem before. Please Advise. Help will be much appreciated.

According to the wiring diagram, the power goes through the light switch from the mother board and into the ice maker. The from the ice maker to the water valve. Based on the information you provided, either the main control board or the ice maker is bad in the unit. You will want to test the red wire coming from the ice maker harness, unplugged from the ice maker, and push the light switch on and off. If it powers, you will replace the main control board. If it does not, then plug the harness back into the ice maker and test the wire, while pressing the switch. If it has power then, replace the ice maker. You can test this with a multi-meter [AP3873826]. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. How To Check Continuity With Ohmmeter Part number: AP4345120 Part number: AP4436216
