I blew through the tube and the water level switch did click. I did this a few times and it clicked every time. I then started the washer up but it still had the same problem. It still agitates at start up and then fills with water during the spin cycle.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for work with me on this.

I pulled the pressure switch and tested it (with my limited knowledge) with a multimeter. I set the multimeter to OhmX1K.

Contacts 1+2 needle to right "0" resistence.
Contacts 1+3 needle to left "Infinity".
Contacts 2+3 needle to left "Infinity" resistence.

I then blew into pressure switch, it clicked, I kept blowing to keep the pressure the same while testing.

Contacts 1+2 needle to left "Infinity"
Contacts 1+3 needle to right "0"
Contacts 2+3 needle to left "Infinity"

The only one that didn't change was contacts 2+3, in remained to the left "Infinity"

On the washer, contact #1 attaches to purple wire, #2 pink, #3 yellow.

Does all of this mean anything? Can you tell if the pressure switch needs to be replaced?

Thanks

Your switch seems fine, replace the timer AP3100438

I was afraid of that...I'll try replacing the timer.

If your timer is metal, you can confirm failure by removing the cover and checking for burnt contacts. If none, I would still replace the timer, most probable problem.

When I looked at the timer earlier I didn't notice any burnt contacts but it was hard to tell. The outside of the timer and the contacts (of course) are metal, the cylinder piece in the center with notches on it is plastic. I guess I'm not really sure what to look for.

You can lift each contact leaf to look at the upper contacts, lower ones are a little harder, also look for burnt marks on the white cam as you turn it with the timer knob.

I checked the contacts on the timer. I noticed one was discolored on the top...it was a blue/green color. When I lifted the contact up I could see some black under it. I cleaned the area with contact cleaner and a cotton swab but the washer still doesn't work right. Do I need to replace the timer?

Probably bad, once the contacts burn, the metal may not be strong enough to make proper contact.
