The touch pad is very erratic on our Maytag quiet series 300 dishwasher. Some times it works sometimes it does not. Often you can touch the cycle pads and only 2 of the four choices lights up and the start pad won't light up or work. Does the whole touch pad need replacing? Can it be replaced? Is this a common problem with these machines. It is currently working after not working for 2 days. I really appreciate any info on this problem. Thanks

A Model Number may help others help you. Could be the control board or the keypad is going but I would try the following first. I am assuming this unit has a seperate control board and keypad as this is the norm.
RIBBON CABLE CLEANING Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. |
