Our Kenmore smoothtop electric range oven went to maximum temperature and won't turn off. Searching online we found a US Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice covering many similar models (same first 5 digits of the model number, also smoothtop Kenmore electric ranges, made by the same manufacturer, WCI) for the exact same problem, which is caused by contacts welding shut in the "clock/timer," aka control board.

However, our model is not on the recall list and Sears therefore refuses to help. We filed a report with the safety commission, but who knows how long it will be until enough people have reported problems for them to modify the recall notice.
Sears Parts tells me that the replacement part is "not available." Does anyone know about finding a substitute part?
