I have a GE GAS cooktop model JGP940SEKSS, as of lately the front left burner does turn on but it gives off smoke, so any pots or pans that i place on the item while it is cooking will turn black and will need severe scrubbing to get it off. Any idea what part is damaged so I can order and replace?

Any one have an idea what part is defective, it seems as if the gas is not burning properly on this burner, any help with guidance would be appreciated.

Quote:it seems as if the gas is not burning properly Yes it does. Quote:Any one have an idea what part is defective I don't know that a defective part is responsible if it hasn't been tampered with prior to this occurrence. It could be that air is blocked from the flame for some reason (dust, grease, cobweb, etc.). You could try looking under the burner cap for anything out of the ordinary. I would however suggest you have a *licensed* gas appliance technician out to look into and correct the condition for you. An improperly burning flame (besides creating a mess) can product excessive CO which can be poisonous. JMO Dan O. www.Appliance411.com The Appliance Information Site=D~~~~~~
