A service company technician thought the compressor was going bad. He said it was getting noise.
We could not detect any difference in noise level when the unit runs.
It does freeze things but it took two days to freeze a bottle of water and it only makes about one tray of ice cubes in eight hours.

Need another opinion on the suggested compressor problem. Unit it about 10 years old. Side by side Amana.

Thanks:)

Check to make sure both fans are running.
There is one in the freezer and one by the compressor.
They should be running when the compressor is running.

Check the inside freezer back wall for frost build-up. There should not be any frost or ice build-up.

If there is you have a defrost system problem.

Make sure the coil on the bottom near the compressor that the fan blows on are clean.

If all the above checks ok then about all that is left is a seal system problem.
This would include the compressor and freon leaks.

At this point as a tech I would tap the system and check to see if the compressor was bad or if it was low on freon because of a system leak.
