a couple weeks ago the food in my fridge was starting to freeze so I turned the temp up a little - now this weekend we noticed the food was too warm, even with the temp turned as low as possible now it's 68 degrees. The freezer (about 4 degrees) had a little bit of frost on the back, especially over the temp control so I couldn't adjust it. Unplugged it and the ice melted. I took the back off to expose the coil, and there was just a little ice there. I tested the defrost heater with an ohm-meter, it seems to be ok. Is this a defrost issue or is there a separate thermostat control for the opening between the fridge and freezer?

If the freezer is near zero and the fridge is too warm, the problem is no air is blowing into the refrigerator section. If there is no excessive frost on the evap coil, then the problem is air flow. The ONLY way the refrig section gets cold is from the freezer. Double check your controls. Some of them are confusing. One (knob, control, or dial...whatever you want to call it) is an actual thermostat and the other is simply an air damper allowing more, or less,. air into the refrig section. You may have inadvertently CLOSED the air flow into the refrig section thinking you were making it "colder".
