Hi. This new dish washer was installed by a technician at the end of 2005. When he got done, he pressed the controls, you could hear the water run and we were good...or so I thought. Sadly, I did not move into the house until after the factory warrany expired and later found out that while water does enter the machine and the cycles run all the way through, the water will not drain out of the machine. :( You don't hear any sound at the point the water should be pumping into the sink drain. 1. Is it unusual for a diswasher drain pump to be DOA? 2. Could there be a drain plug he didn't remove or a power switch on the unit he didn't flip? 3. If not, is there a likely cause and probable repair? Thank you so much!!!

1. Make sure drain line is not pinched....however if you listen closely you will hear the motor hum as it enters pumpout cycle. If no sound at all, look for a loose wire

vetteman. Thank you! I finally manned up an pulled out the unit today. The installer did not have one of the legs screwed in and it appears as he was pushing it in, the drain pump, which just kind of hangs down with a little metal bar to hold it up, twisted. It now drains. BUT...new problem. The circulation pump is not working. The dishwasher fills and now drains, but no water is being circulated. Any guesses on that one. Thanks again!

If im not mistaken.... the same motor that pumps water out also is responsible to spray water inside the dishwasher. My guess is another mistake was made during the install or some wire got dislodged. I'd make sure the door is solidly closed as the spray wont happen if the door is open. If you have the ability, UNPLUG the unit and drop (or open) the operating panel and make sure all connections are secure. Make sure the door switch itself has the wires connected to it. Inside, make sure the plastic sprayers are on properly and no obstructions exist. It's gotta be something simple or goofy like this. Good luck!

vetteman. Once again, thank you! I let the unit fill and drain with water a couple of times yesterday and started it again this morning. I was hoping if there was a clog from mildew or something from water being in the unit, it would melt. Sure enough, the sprayers are now working! I will cycle it through a few more times just to be sure. I think I can get the unit back in the counter much better than my "professional" installer did :-). Thank you so much and thank you AlliancePartsPros.com!
