Washer seems to perform all other cycles normally, but will not agitate. I have to assume it is the transmission, but want to get other opinions so I do not over look something cheaper :-)

Operate it with the front cover off and see what his happening when it supposed to be agitating. If the motor is operating it is very likely the transmission.

I have the same problem. I popped the front panel off and access to the timer as well. Motor will run on spin mode but will not run when the timer is in aggitate. There is a humming noise coming from the timer when I select aggitate. Model is Maytag Performa PAV3200AWW rev 10. Thanks for the help in advance.

Further inspection...sounds like the humming is coming from the motor when the timer is in aggitate.
