My hot water heater seems to have trouble anticipating the need to heat the water. The temp gets quite low before the heater kicks on. Is there any adjustment that I could make to remedy this problem . It is a 75 gallon gas water heater. Thanks

As far as I know there is no adjustment.

Have you drained some water out of the unit. Scale/rust etc. at the bottom of the tank can cause this.

Also could be that the dip tube has rusted out and the cold water is entering the tank at the top instead of at the bottom.

Here is a link with some info.

Thanks. I have drained the water out of the bottom on a regular basis.
I guess it's going to be time for a new water heater pretty soon.
I'd rather replace it before it starts to leak
