My KitchenAid dishwasher (Model KUDS01IJBS0 and Serial Number FL1813031) has stopped operating. I turned off the power to it for over 12 hours to see if it required a reset, but the dishwasher has the same problem. Upon power up, the "Add a Dish" LED is flashing with no other indications. If I hit the Start button, the "Rinse On" LED starts flashing with the "Add a Dish" LED. Pressing the other mode buttons didn't illuminate their respective LEDs. After pressing the "Cancel/Drain" button a few times, the Status Display would show just two dashes.
Also, once I was able to get the normal dishwashing mode to start (after powering it off for a while), but it stopped after about 15 minutes with the "Add a Dish" LED flashing and the Status Display just showing the two dashes.
I verified that the door switch is operating properly by jumpering it out and the problem persists. Also, I couldn't enter the diagnostic modes by doing the key sequences.
Should I replace the control module, the touch panel, or both?
Thanks!

My KUD01 is doing exactly the same thing. You described it well.
I replaced the control/timer circuit board to no avail. I'm guessing that replacing it won't help your problem either.
I jumpered each of the microswitches in turn (including the door latch). When I disconnected the vent thermistor, and cycled the power, it behaved differently, so I replaced the vent assembly (which contains a new thermistor). Still no joy.
I disassembled the 'soil sensor'/pressure switch. I found the (internal) contacts were badly corroded. So I cleaned it all up, verified it worked (using an ohmmeter). Yet no change in the behaviour.
I hadn't considered the touch panel (the 'delay' button is a little soft) as a possibility, otherwise I'm running out of ideas.
Any thoughts anyone?
PS. The main motor when out 2 years ago and I replaced that successfully. The door gasket began to leak a year ago, so I replaced that. Pretty soon, I'll have replaced everything but the racks and basin!

The service guy was just here and confirmed with KitchenAid that based on the symtoms and the flashing Normal LED, the keypad is bad. I confirmed with the technician that I tested the keypad with a digital multimeter, but he said replacing the touchpad has fixed problems in the past where the pad tested just fine. My advice, try replacing the touchpad next.

I did replace the panel and that fixed it back in '08. After several years of functioning dishwasher, my KUDS01 started exhibiting the same symptoms as I described in earlier posts. Last week I replaced the panel again (for the 3rd time), but that didn't fix it. I ordered a new control/timer circuit board. If that fixes it, that's my 3rd bad control/timer circuit board.
