My Kenmore quit making ice. Freezer temp is good, but ice maker is not filling. If manually filled, makes & ejects ice normally, but will not re-fill. Suspect either freeze-up or bad solenoid on ice maker side of double water valve (water dispenses normally through door). Unfortunately, I don't know how to check either. Kenmore's Use & Care Guide and Repair Parts List are not particularly helpful.
I will appreciate some guidance including how to check water supply line for freezing (if this is appropriate). Referral to a manual or schematic showing how to get access to ice maker parts will also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Eli (ezonana1)

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.
The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube. The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will try ASAP. Any idea where I can get manual or schematic showing best access to various parts of ice maker? On this model, the ice maker sits transversely across back of freezer, with little space on either side. Eli

My bad. The complete model # is 596.58622990. I didn't realize all the numbers were pertinent.
Also, in the event (as I am inclined to believe) my problem is a freeze-up in the line due to sediment build-up or ???, could you describe how I would go about thawing the line (ideally, without thawing entire freezer) and cleaning out the line & valve?
Thanks, Eli
