My ice maker has been continually dumping water into the ice tray. It will not make ice, only water.... Is this a result of a bad ice maker or bad water inlet valve? I was going to buy the ice maker, but saw the inlet valve and thought i'd check first.

Does the ice mold fill with water and then it just doesn't freeze? What is the temp. in the freezer?
Or is the water not going into the ice mold and just goes into the ice bin. This would be because of ice blockage in the fill tube just behind the ice maker. The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube. The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.

No the ice would freeze or the freezer is plenty cold. It just dumps water into the bin, which them overflows and spills out everywhere. I thought it was a bad ice maker. You think it is blockage? In the tube? What are the other possibilities? It seems to be getting water.
