Hi all,
I have a 4.5 year old GE model GSS25SGRESS.
Yesterday the freezer fan began to run constantly.
I removed the ice bin this morning before coming to work and noticed that there is ice at the back of the freezer.
Thanks for any help!

Thanks for your thoughts... is this something a layman could replace or should I call a repairman?

There is nothing hard about this repair job just disconnect power from refrigerator. Then remove the cover off the back of the freezer, melt the ice and replace the heater.

I called a repair shop and they said it was probably a fan and when you replace that you have to replace the main control board... all for $395.
Does this sound like it could be the issue?

It's caused by a lack of defrosting such as a failed heater etc.

Fond another repairman on the BBB website and he came out... I feel really stupid now.
The little cup filler for the ice maker had come off some how and was sitting in the icemaker so water was leaking down the back of the freezer causing my symtoms.
I'm going to go ahead and say I could have figured that out if my wife had given me the chance to tonight when I got home from work, but oh well. :D
Thanks everyone for your help!
