My whirlpool duet electric dryer is 3.5 years old and is leaving brown streaks on my clothes. A repairman and what I've read here said it is likely due to worn gaskets. Is that something we could replace ourselves? Or are we better having the pro do it? We also have not had the dryer professionally cleaned since we've had it. Do we need to?

Well, I think it is intoleragle that as expensive machine as this should have those problems at this time, but indignation will not fix your problem, will it.

Here is the service manual, and you can use it to judge whether or not you think you can make the repair.

And no, you should not need any type of professional cleaning, just make certain the lint screen is always clean and that you vac the venting system every now and then.

Good luck, let us know what you decide.
