Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 6/9/2009(UTC) Posts: 1		i have a maytag model # sav5710aww i believe i have a two-piece agitator and the top half of agitator with the softner cup just floats on top of the water when i fill it with water. i can pull it up and take it out with no water in it. i don't think thats supposed to do that. i think it is supposed to be fastened somehow can you please tell if something is wrong and how to fix it. thanks

There is a bolt which holds the agitator down. Click on this link and you will be taken to a parts diagram. Look at the view for the agitator and you will see a screw, part 14 which holds your agitator in place. Replacement parts for MAYTAG SAV5710AWW \| AppliancePartsPros.com I would guess yours has broken or has worked its way out. Good luck Let us know if this fixes your problem.
