I had a GE Profile dishwasher with the sound upgrade kit installed last week. The door would not open all the way, and I discovered the installer did not attach the white sound upgrade kit panel to the dishwasher (although he did attach the kick plate to the sound upgrade kit  ) I tried briefly to attach the sound panel myself and it does not easily fit into place in the notches shown in the installation guide. Am I doing something wrong or is the foam on the panel inexact resulting in some effort to get that panel attached?

Any secret tips to make it easier would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello G2Plano,

Model # PDW9280N20SS

I just received my GE Profile Dishwasher yesterday and tried to install the white plastic panel with black foam which I assumed was the toekick brace and it would not fit. You are right, this doesn't look like any part included in the manual. ( Is this a sound barrier kit?) I thought maybe they gave me the wrong part, but sounds like you are having the same problem. Please let me if you or anyone else has any idea of how to install this. Thanks....Jon

Jon -
The part you are describing is the sound upgrade kit. According to the installation instructions you attach the sound upgrade kit, and then the black toe kick then screws into the sound upgrade kit. I have not been able to get the sound upgrade kit attached, as it is not an easy fit. A plumber installed mine, and I discovered that he simply did not attach the sound upgrade kit with screws at all. I'm still working on it.

Be sure and remove the toekick brace as shown in Figure M on page 8 of the installation instructions. (My plumber failed to do that as well.) The sound upgrade kit will then fit up nicely.

Good luck.

Had the same problem installing this sound upgrade piece. Check out this video:

and it will all make sense! :)
