Trying to figure out what part(s) I need. I thought it might need a defrost timer, but there doesn't seem to be such a part for this model. What do you suggest? Thanks!

Part 30 on diagram 17 is your timer .Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KSSS42QDW00 | AppliancePartsPros.com

But you need to check the defrost thermostat and defrost heater before replacing it.

Turn the timer till it clicks and the unit turns off. Your heater should now be on. If not bypass the defrost thermostat and see if it comes on. If not check the heater. If the heater and thermostat are OK, the timer is bad.
