Model KSBP23INSS00. Basic side by side with ice/water in freezer door.
My ice maker is not working. 2yrs ago we had the same problem and I had my local shop's service guy out. He thought it was the optics, but the ice maker started before he could return with the part 2 days later. Over the past 2yrs it would stop about every 4-10 weeks probably. I'd play with the optics flap, switch the ice make to off then back on, and it would work again.
Well it's not working again. My tricks have done nothing. Service Guy out yesterday and replaces optics: still wont work. Checks the on/off switch: ok. Takes out ice maker and tests it: ok. He tells me yesterday that it might be a broken wire in the lining. But he takes the ice maker to the shop to test overnight.
Just got off the phone. Naturally ice maker worked fine. Now he says it MIGHT be the light switch at the top of the liner. Problem is that he will have to pry it out (no screws) and will most likely dent & visually damage the liner. OR, it still might be a broken wire.
I've told him to try the light switch. Really, what option do I have?
Has anyone had any problems with the top switch? Or with a broken wire? And if so, what did KitchenAid do for you?
