the washing machine will only was on gentle cycle not normal, what could be the cause of the trouble

You have either burnt contacts in the timer, or a bad motor. Put the timer in normal wash, pull the cover off the timer, and check the contacts that should be closed, you will probably find burnt ones. If you need a timer, call this parts site for the correct part #, your model # does'nt work.
