Hi,
My washer filled up with water (first step), wash clothes, stop at "Pause" mode (normally about 30 secs) before enter "Rinse" mode, but it did not go into "Rinse" mode: It stayed at "Pause" foreever. So the water is still there.
I checked the lid switch and it seemed broken. I then cut off the lid switch and wire the two wires (going into the lid switch) together.
When testing the washer again, it keeps filling the water (did not stop until I have to push the Control Knob back to turn it off) even though I set it to "small" load.
What might be my problem and how to fix it? Please advise. Thanks.

This switch is actually a pressure switch. The tubing goes to the bottom of the tub, as the unit fills with water air is trapped in the tube, the pressure increases as the water rises till it hits the set point of the switch. Then the water valves are shut off and the wash cycle starts. Perhaps you pulled something loose getting at the lid switch. Check that the tubing is still attached correctly to the switch. Check that the wires are still attached to the switch. Check that you have not nicked the tubing allowing the air to escape. Check that the tubing still goes to the bottom of the tub. You have have loosened some crud and it is blocking the tubing. Remove the tubing from the switch and blow into it to clear the plug. Could be the switch is toast. Get a piece of tubing with an ID the same as on the unit. Attach this to the switch, start a fill and low into the tubing, you should not have to blow too hard to shut the water off. |
