Dryer gets power and motor stays on after start, but drum does not turn.
Sound like a belt and I see whirlpool part AP4049271 and cose-up diagram of belt assembly (ribs toward drum). But I have no experience. I assume I disonnect gas and open in back and I'll see the assembly. Any advice on my diagnosis / repair?

Don't remove gas line. Use a putty knife and loosten clips holding the top panel in place, hing back and remove the screws holding the front panel in place. Remove the drum and use non detergent oil on the idler pulley, replace if necessary, replace drum and route new belt around drum where the wear spot is with the ribbed side against drum. Then reach in under drum and route belt around idler pulley and motor pulley. You will find only ONE way the belt will go on to provide proper tension on the belt. Then put everything back together and hand turn the drum to ensure belt tracks properly.
