This Kitchenaid by Hobart Trash Compactor works great - but we have gone thru 2 sets of rails and now believe that possibly the return spring is worn out and this is allowing the rails to take the entire weight and therefore no added support is being given to the basket? Are springs available?

Its possible they are still available. Get the correct model number and call us at 1-877-477-7278 or do a seach on the website.
