how do I remove the top of this Maytag washer so that I can replace the lid switch plunger apparatus?

there is a pretty good description on how to do it, don't remember exactly where. but - the two pieces on back of the top are hinges and they don't need to be undone unless you actually have to take it completely off.

On the front lip of the top piece resting on the front panel, use a thin scraper or something - 4" from each side, you will feel a spring clip. One at a time, push the spring clip toward the back and feel it release the top, the top will then swing up. this is on a Maytag PAV3360AWW.
