My Kenmore 70 series washer is not agitating during the wash and spin cycles. Instead, it makes an "eeeeeee...." noise through the cycles. Please help! What may be wrong and how do I fix? Is it worth fixing or just opting to buy a new washer at this point?

The first thing I would do is remove the washer cabinet and check the motor coupling (#13 on the diagram). This is very common and easy to fix problem. All instructions are attached to the reply.

- The part number for the motor drive coupling is AP3963893

Hi Gene,

Thanks so much for your detailed instructions and links!! I was able to find the part locally and the washer works perfectly now!! I ran my first cycle last night!

I really appreciated your quick reply and the step by step instructions, diagram, and the link to where the part could be purchased.

You saved me a lot of time and money!

-Tina
