I am having a problem with my Duet washing machine. All of the buttons on the user control panel work except the start button. Sometimes it will work right away without any problem, sometimes you have to hold it in for 2-3 minutes to get it to start, and other times you have to press and release it several times to get it to start. Opening and shutting the door does not help at all. Changing the load selection does not help either. Here's what I have already done.
1. I took apart the user interface panel to ensure there is good contact between the green start button and the red button behind it. In fact, I pressed the red button by itself and had the same problem, only starts when it wants to.
2. I ran a diagnostic test cycle and received no error codes.
What else should I be checking?

Strange as it may sound you need to check the door lock assembly and associated wiring. The door lock regularly acts up on these models and it can cause what you are experiencing.

I think it is the door lock assembly as well. I used my multi meter to test several components and discovered it was defective. I have had an intermittent problem with it draining as well. Pressure switch was defective as well. Ordered both parts yesterday. Hopefully it will fix my problems.

OK replacing the door switch had no effect on my problem. When testing the door lock/unlock solenoids I should be getting 60 ohms for both of them according to my troubleshooting guide. The lock solenoid reads 60 ohms as it should. However the lock solenoid does not. It read 135 ohms for my old door switch, and is reading 118 ohms with my new door switch. Why are the ohms too high, and is this my problem with the start button not working consistently. I checked the wiring harness that connects the door lock switches and solenoids and they were good.
Looking for help!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Duets. When they work they are great, when they do not they are a diagnostic nightmare.
If your new doorlock did not fix it then the next thing to try is the main control unit. Yes, I know, this sounds like just replacing parts and not figuring out what is wrong. That's what you end up doing with the Duets.
If you bought the parts from this site and they did not fix the problem you can return them, so I can only advise you to keep trying. Sorry, that's what Whirlpool made and that's what a Whirlpool service tech would do if he or she came to your house.
