This is the way to do it, promise :)
I've replaced dozens of handles myself.

I have a 5 year old Kitchenaid KHMS155L. I am now replacing the handle for the third time, and also just replaced the front door panel. After
"snapping" the front panel back onto the door, I first noticed the door handle was not screwed on tight enough. This replacement panel fits so tight that I cannot get it off again to tighten the handle screw. I tried your method, which was successful in removing the cracked door, but this time, it will not work. I am just gouging the inside of the door. Any further pressure will for sure crack the new outside panel. This door will not come off. Any suggestions?

According to the diagram the design of the door is pretty similar to the door shown in the clip on the page 2 of this thread.

Whirlpool gh4155xpso, the inner frame seems more rigid and less flexible than the video. Should I just stop being afraid of breaking it and force it, or is this model slightly different?

Pictures helped. We used craft popcicle sticke when we seperated front and rear door. They were pushed in by plastic that held front and rear doors together. Thanks, Ray

I have tried to carefully follow the instructions given to get the frame piece (#2 in the diagram) from inside the frame but have only succeeded in cracking the outside face frame in that area where the three screws are. I got part of the inside frame off but of course it was the part toward the hinge end and not the handle end. Any suggestions? I have lived with the broken handle for about a year now. It is very disappointing.
