Thanks for getting back to me, but seems to be fine now. How nice it is to have a oven that comes to temperature so fast and accurately.

i too have same issue with my viking. however when i set dial to 400+, both burners will run consistantly but will take forever to come to temp. as such seems the ignitors working just fine. someone mentioned on this thread that the flame itself can vary in strength. is this true and what regulates that? thought the ignitors turned a flame on/off and flame only came in 1 size! also there is an inordinate amount of heat escaping out the top vents and i have long believed that is cause of oven not heating quickly. will be happy to replace ignitors (can do it myself) if that does trick but i am doubtful. pls help...

I have had my viking range for 8 years and have had the ignitors replaced twice. It costs about $400 in service call for them to come out and I'd rather do it myself. I have one burner and my oven that is currently out. Does anyone know where I can find directions to replace these myself?

I have a Viking range too. Model #VGIC305-4BSS
From pilot igniters firing at random to oven issues it's had major issues. Unfortunately I was in love with the stainless steel tank-like facade.
My oven ignitors totally failed today, no lighting at all. I was lucky towards the end to have one burner go on, then 15 minutes later have the other fire up. I'm super glad to see the replacement parts are interchangeable. There's no way I'm shelling out another $500. to have this POS repaired! Thankfully my husband can repair it!
Last time I spoke w/ Viking they said "you could afford it? You can afford to repair it"

Hello-
so are we sure it's not the t-stat and not the ignitors?
my oven - both ignitors glow - gas comes - nice hearty burn - but then the gas flow rate tapers way down - but not off and it doesn't get above 200 degrees.
wouldn't a bad t-stat that thinks it's at full temp restrict the flow of gas?
how would an ignitor that glows and does ignite the gas control the amount of gas flow to the burner?
thanks for any thoughts!
